Chattanooga,
Tenn. – Coker Tire
Company, the largest supplier of classic and collector vehicle
tires, has recently announced the availability of original Firestone
wide whitewall and blackwall drag slicks to make that "Old
School" hot rod the hottest ticket on the strip or street.
They
are made in the U.S. using new molds created from original Firestone
drawings and sporting authentic Firestone sidewall engravings. The
Firestone Dragsters feature tubeless construction and a
"sticky" street compound specifically designed for
nostalgia vehicles. Coker’s Firestone Drag Slicks are the only
tires of their kind with limited tread grooves and tread wear
indicators – making them DOT-approved and legal for street use.
"These
are the only ‘street legal’ nostalgia slicks currently
available," says Corky Coker, president of Coker Tire Company.
"They’re great for matching up with bias-ply Firestone front
tires for those popular ‘Big and Little’ combos on nostalgia
rods, and they provide the ultimate nostalgia look of T-buckets
while offering the safety of street legal rubber."
The
street legal Dragster tire is available in sizes, 820-15, 1000-15,
820-16 and 1000-16. The 820-15 and 1000-15 come with a 2 1/4-inch
whitewall while the 820-16 and 1000-16 has a bold 1 7/8-inch
whitewall.
Retail
prices for the Firestone Drag Slicks range from $225 to $240 for
whitewalls and from $205 to $220 for blackwall versions. These tires
and more can be ordered by calling Coker Tire’s Vintage Tire
Hotline, at 1-800-251-6336. Local and International inquiries can be
made by calling 423-265-6368.
Firestone
Dragsters, as well as hundreds of additional classic and collector
tires, wheels, special wheel and tire packages, vintage rims, tire
and auto accessories and collectibles can also be ordered through
the company’s easy-to-use online shopping Website at www.coker.com.
