Elmo Kekaa Remembers;
Da' Mighty Hawai'i Kai Tree

Waimanalo, Hawaii – Eh, you folk’s get one great website! I get couple pictures dat I tink would be good fo your da kine, Scenic Avenue section.

Small kid time, I used to walk to school from my house in Hawaii Kai to Kamiloiki. On da way was this rubbish can under one skinny tree dat I used to kick around and make dents. Ho, dat ting smelled so bad too, cuz of all da stale-old beer cans leff behind from construction workers. Pilau! I tell you!

But anywayz, as I got older, dat small tree got biggah and biggah until da whole tree when envelop dat rubbish can. Honest! I kid you not. Dat was ova tirdy-years ago! If you look good, you still can see a little of it showing tru da tree trunk. I promise you can! Only small-kine tho.

Da tree stay at da bottom of da Hawaii Kai hill. You know da one? It’s at da corner of Lunalilo Home Road and Hawaii Kai Drive.

Hope you folks like da story and pictures.

Mahaloz,
Elmo Kekaa

Need translation?
It seems that Elmo Kekaa used to walk to school and on the way, he’d kick a trash can that was under a small tree located at Lunalilo Home Road and Hawaii Kai Dr. After 30 years, that trash can ended up being consumed by that tree. Today, if you look closely, you can see some of the can showing through its roots and tree trunk. Great story Elmo! Thanks eh'.

If it happened on the streets of Hawaii, you just might hear it first in Honolulu Streets.
