What started out in 2003 as a small event at the Navy Exchange has grown into one of the most anticipated auto shows on the Island. In 2005, The Pearl Harbor Auto Show drew over 8,000 spectators and 200 cars. And this year is expecting an even larger crowd. The anticipation of the bigger crowd has compelled show officials to plan for "Bigger" and Better fun!

HONOLULU HI. — Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) and the Navy Exchange have collaborated once again for the 2006 Pearl Harbor Auto Show. Since 2003, crows in excess of 10,000 spectators, including sailors, family members and the local community converge on The Mall at Pearl Harbor Parking Lot to witness what happens when the artist meets the automobile. Nearly 200 automobiles, food, A rock-climbing wall, bounce houses, prizes and live entertainment create a day-long extravaganza that’s fun for the whole family.

Automobiles are judged in seven different categories ranging from imports to vintage. First, second and third place trophies are awarded in each category along with a "Best in Show" winner.

"This event is really targeted toward the Sailor," said Jeff Harris, MWR Marketing Director and event Coordinator. "The majority of our Sailors are young guys. Young guys love cars. This is their chance to see some of the best cars from around the Island at this event. While cars are the main focus of the event, the joint effort between the NEX and MWR creates an event that has entertainment and activities to accommodate every member of the family."

MWR and the NEX agree that the show is growing in popularity and they plan to make each event bigger and better than the year before.
